#18604 new bug
IOM: Transformers can't be removed anymore
Reported by: | humdinger | Owned by: | stippi |
---|---|---|---|
Priority: | normal | Milestone: | Unscheduled |
Component: | Applications/Icon-O-Matic | Version: | R1/Development |
Keywords: | Cc: | ||
Blocked By: | Blocking: | ||
Platform: | All |
Description
This is hrev57294, 64bit.
- Create a shape.
- Add any transformer
- Try removing the transformer, i.e. select it and press DEL.
Doesn't work. As soon as it's selected, the name in its "properties" gets selected and you remove that one instead. (Which BTW should be made impossible, as unnamed objects become invisible in the list view. Food for another ticket...)
Probably a regression when "Perspective" was added in GSoC2023 ?

If only there were a way to be notified about new tickets on Icon-O-Matic...
Maybe you can use the RSS feed for that? https://dev.haiku-os.org/login?referer=%2Fquery%3Fstatus%3D!closed%26component%3DApplications%252FIcon-O-Matic%26order%3Did%26desc%3D1%26format%3Drss
I've just clicked on this Ticket's Component (Application/Icon-O-Matic), on the resulting page, sorted tickets by decreasing number, and used the RSS link at the bottom of the page.

I thought that was present prior to my work on it?
I was only able to quickly check against beta4, where it works OK. No idea if it might be a side-effect of an unrelated change. Unfortunately, I get build failures when trying to reset back to older revisions to better pinpoint the affronting commit...

You just have to ask! Now you are the default owner for all new Icon-O-Matic tickets, and you will get an e-mail.

(...) to work around it, you have to painstakingly...
- Click on another property in the properties view so that the text box is no longer selected
- Click back on the transformer you wanted to delete
- Press delete
Just clicking a second time on the transformer steals the focus away from the name field. It is still annoying though.
I`ll very much prefer that the autoselection of the name field only happens when you create a new element or duplicate an existing one. The rest of the time should only happen when double-clicking an element or with Alt-E like in Tracker.

I knew about the existence of that problem. I thought that was present prior to my work on it? Or else this was caused by fixing some other kind of bug? I don't remember. Anyway, it happens because, as you mentioned, properties is selected and steals the delete key for itself. So, to work around it, you have to painstakingly...
