Ticket #18681 – Description
initial v12 1 I tried to use the keyboard only to access the screen preferences. 1 Similar to the default type-ahead jumping in Tracker, where you enter a letter and the selection jumps to the first file starting with the letter.\\ 2 For example: 3 * Invoke Deskbar menu (hit MENU key). 4 * Type 'p' -> "Preferences" are selected. 5 * Hit CursorRight to open "Preferences" sub-menu. 6 * Type 'sh' -> "Shortcuts" are selected. 7 * Hit ENTER to launch Shortcuts prefs. 2 8 3 Pressing "List" will focus on Desktop 4 with arrow keys I can move up and down and right or left in the menu 5 But choosing preferences with "Enter" or "Return" will not open the preferences! 9 If we go with 'type-ahead jumping", why not also optional 'type-ahead filtering' like in Tracker. 6 10 7 Better would be: 8 "List" not on all Keyboards 9 "p" for preferences 10 "s" for screen 11 to reach the screen preferences window quick similar to the search ahead function in folder structures. 11 See also #6496 that describes a similar enhancement to Tracker's drill-down-navigation.
