Crash while booting from USB thumb

Reported by: X-Grimator Owned by: kallisti5

Component: Drivers/Graphics/radeon_hd Version: R1/beta4

Description (last modified by X-Grimator)

Hi all,

I tried to install HaikuOS R4 from an USB built with Balena Etcher. R3 was fine, and I would to test R4 to help you to improve all the operating system.

But... system freezes and I don't understand why. I only could do a photo of my screen.

  1. I insert USB
  2. I switch on the PC
  3. Initial screen (loading Haiku)
  4. A lot of lines in console... and end.

Best,

This is an app_server crash. Please try booting with "fail-safe video mode" enabled in the bootloader options.

Does it happen when you try to boot a nightly image from https://download.haiku-os.org/nightly-images/x86_64 ?

It seems to run ok (booting with save graphic driver). Thanks a lot.

No need to quote the reply inline, this isn't email.

Anyway the Radeon driver is known to have this problem on more recent hardware, see #17377 et al.
