Description
using hrev24979 on real hardware.
start a large download ( the new firefox from bebits ) or start to expand a large zip file ( the same file downloaded using BeOS max ) the operation continues for 10 to 15 seconds then just stops. Using the process controller, one can see that the kernel team page writer thread is using all the cpu cycles. No file operations can be done at this time. the system is not frozen, but the only thing that can be done is to reboot. any running apps are still responsive, but no new apps can be launched and nothing can be saved.

After re-initializing the disk and re-installing hrev24979, the issue cannot be duplicated. This must be a symptom of a different problem that caused on-disk file issues. I usually just copy over the beos directory so that I can maintain my applications and home folder ... I backed up the apps and home folder, re-installed copying all folders after initializing the partition, then restored my home and apps folders. Now I can download and install the Experimentally Built firefox from bebits with no trouble. I must have had a kdl on an earlier build that messed up the file system on the disk. Please close this ticket as it is a symptom of a different ( un-identified ) issue.
