#4511 closed bug (fixed)

Some videos cause audio thread to take 100% cpu

Reported by: PieterPanman Owned by: dlmcpaul
Priority: normal Milestone: R1
Component: Audio & Video/Codecs Version: R1/alpha1

Description

This was with these two videos (sorry, can't provide samples of these): Hitch.2005.XviD.AC3.CD1-WAF.avi Hitch.2005.XviD.AC3.CD2-WAF.avi

Video is fine but no audio. Every 30 seconds or so seconds it halts mouse movement for 1-2 seconds. "Media Player Audio Au control" thread uses 100% in process controller.

Similar problem occurs with "I Am Legend - Trailer.mp4 (1080p, h264)" http://www.h264info.com/clips.html However for this one, one core cannot keep up with 1080p frame decoding, so extremely choppy, corrupted images. But in the same way no sound, audio thread uses full cpu.

Mediaplayer crashes on closing after playing these clips with attached bt, not sure if this is related to this or to high cpu usage and closing media player.

After all this experimenting, I have about 20 MediaPlayer Audio Out controls under Audio Settings - Audio Mixer - Gain Controls.

Forgot to mention: hrev33137 from trunk. Other videos that play audio properly don't cause full cpu usage of audio thread

Using "i_am_legend-1080p_blu-ray_trailer.zip" from that link I am unable to confirm the crashing after closing MediaPlayer. I can confirm the stuttering and no audio though. R39551 gcc2hybrid VirtualBox 3.2.10.

Works fine now. There is still some video frame skips but the audio works just fine (in 5.1).
