Description

JPBE.net (Haiku User Group in Japan) made a Japanese ja.catkeys for Appearance. Please merge the attach file to SVN.

Status: newclosed

applied in hrev33514. We still need to include a japanese font in the distro to make it somewhat useable, however.

Don't we include the Konatu font already ?

Maybe. However, it isn't selected when you choose japanese as a language in the locale preflet. Should there be an automatic font switch of some kind ?

Given the lack of font overlay in Haiku, enabling a Japanese font is necessary to be able to display this language; it would definitely be nice if this were automatic and configurable, at least through a settings file.

I see that Basho includes a different font (VL Gothic). Is it better than the one we use ? In that case we should include it too. Either in place of Konatu or additionally.

Yes, VL Gothic is much better suited as a UI font, so it would certainly be nice if this font were included by default.

I want automatic font/keymap changing mechanism, too.
