#5047 closed bug (fixed)

Ticket tracker e-mail confirmation uses poor/spam language

Reported by: austin Owned by: nielx
Priority: normal Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: Website/Trac Version: R1/alpha1
Keywords: email, spam Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Description

Because the ticket tracker sends uninformative, terse, unfriendly e-mails, e-mail services think it's generating spam. Updating the e-mail it sends to be welcome and informative will go far in ensuring delivery. It wouldn't hurt to check dev.haiku-os.org's SPF record either.

I would suggest using wording that invites to more specific action in the case the account was not created by the email address owner, something along the lines of:

An account was created with Haiku's ticket tracker using
your email address. To confirm your account please visit:

http://dev.haiku-os.org/verify_email?token=xxxxxxxx

If you have not created this account, please let us know
at xxxx@haiku-os.org so that we can remove it.

BTW, the footer is inaccurate: the notifications are not sent out from Haiku, nor does Haiku have offices in Florida or anywhere for that matter.

Owner: changed from haiku-web to nielx
Status: newassigned

Okay, any more opinions before I implement this?

I agree with Jorge about the footer, especially since the supposed offices of Haiku are my address. I'd rather not have my address getting sent out to all corners of the globe as part of an email. Though I suppose at this point it doesn't matter much since it is on the Haiku, Inc. page on the web-site. But the main point is it only serves as the mailing address of the non-profit, not any sort of offices (beyond the fact that I do my Haiku work here.)

I also like Jorge's wording of the main body.
