Description
I'm running hrev35770 gcc2hybrid raw, booting off a USB stick on a Dell Mini10 (or the Inspiron 1010 as its called here in UK). Haiku only successfully boots in 640x480 res when I should also be able to boot in 800x576 and 1024x576. 800x576 is given as an option in the safe mode boot menu but if I choose that res Haiku only gets as far as the rocket icon. 1024x576 isn't listed as a boot option at all although it is mentioned in syslog. Neither 800x576 nor 1024x576 are available as options under the screen prefs tool.

I don't think this is the GMA 950 but the infamous GMA 500 chipset, not supported by intel_extreme driver.

Yes, my mistake. It is the GMA500, not 950 as I originally reported. I've now updated/corrected my bug report accordingly.
All recent Linux distros allow me to get at least 800x576 with the VESA driver and by using the generic fbdev driver in conjunction with the i915resolution daemon/tool I can get good 2D performance @ 1024x576 without using any 'proper' xorg driver so I don't see why Haiku/ Intel Extreme driver couldn't do the same?

I forgot to mention that the official i915resolution ( http://915resolution.mango-lang.org/ ) doesn't natively support the GMA500, instead it requires this patch:
http://svn.exactcode.de/t2/trunk/package/contrib/915resolution/gma500.patch
Then I can use i915resolution in conjunction with uvesafb and get 2D good enough for SD video playback, youtube etc. without using the flaky psb X11 driver. In fact I benchmarked them and uvesafb managed to outperform the 'proper' poulsbo X11 driver in many instances.
Is this i915/GMA500 BIOS patching code any use to you getting the GMA500 working with the Intel Extreme or the VESA driver Axel? Fingers crossed us poulsbo users aren't SOL again - I'll assist with this however I can.

Since this is now an enhancement request (support for another chipset), it doesn't belong in alpha3. Moving to R1.

Note Rene's T2 patch has probably been consolidated and moved to http://svn.exactcode.de/t2/trunk/package/contrib/915resolution/updates.patch
And one of debians patches is https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=1;bug=543917;filename=915resolution.c.patch;msg=5

Moving out of intel_extreme component, as this is entirely different hardware. A driver based on 915resolution might be possible.
