Description

Relating to #1142 & this mailing list thread: BToolBar API

the symbols should of course be HVIF vector icons, maybe especially optimized for 16x16 as that may be the most used size. Also, I think this small size doesn't lend itself to the isometric perspective. Therefore I'd propose to be strictly 2D. Which leaves decisions for selected/not-selected/not-selectable, color schemes etc.

  • color/grayscale
  • pressed button look
  • highlighted
  • inverted
  • outline
  • ...

quoting from http://www.freelists.org/post/haiku/GSoC-2010-idea-BToolbar-API,7

If anyone needs a idea of what icons might be needed, there is a list on the freedesktop.org page of icon nomenclature : http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-naming-spec/icon-naming-spec-latest.html#names

Some of the Icons can be found on ZuMi's website, these need to be included in haiku sometime.

Should the icons use freedesktop.org's icon nomenclature or should haiku use its own naming system ?

I say Freedesktop nomenclature, as then we could just implement native icons in other programs simply by passing the icon name string. I think that those icons are great, anyone who objects to incorporating them (in #10887/#1142?)

We've been using zumi's icons for a while now.
