Description
i just wanted to update my virtualbox-image of alpha2 to nightly hrev39973 gcc4 hybrid
i booted from the alpha2 installation (haiku 2gb partition in the screenshots), ran the installer and let it install from haiku 500mb to the boot-partition
at the end of the installation-process i got an unreadable errormessage (haiku-error-1.png) after hitting enter for each message the installer-window resized to some insane higth (i gave up after moving it 20 screen) and the start-menue didn't work anymore (haiku-error-2.png)
the reboot that the installer warned me of, didn't happen

Maybe I misunderstood this ticket... You can't update a running system with Installer. If you want to use the Installer, you should've done it the other way around: boot from the nightly and install it over your old alpha2. BUT. Alpha2 is gcc2hybrid, so installing a gcc4hybrid image over it could result in trouble.
I suggest to boot the nightly and just copy over your data and config from the old alpha2.
I'll mark this ticket "invalid". If I did misunderstand the issue, we can reopen it.
