Description

If I boot my DELL Latitude E6500 laptop with a 1440*900 built-in display with a 1280*1024 monitor connected to the external display port, the built-in display resolution is set with the external screen capabilities. the bottom of screen is truncated (124 lines high) and there is a black area on the right (160 columns width) (NB: the external screen is black).

Every things work fine when I do not connect an external screen.

By external display port do you mean a "Display Port connector", VGA, or DVI?

comment:3 by starsseed, 12 years ago

I mean VGA
Sorry, it was obvious to me since the DELL Latitude E6500 laptop has a VGA port only (it's a quite old one now...)

Please retest after hrev53040.

Since a few years, le driver must be blacklisted because nothing is displayed. Even with no external screen, all I can get is a black screen. (Every things used to work fine when I did not connect an external screen.) So, for the moment, I can't test this point.

Please attach a syslog with the boot leading to a black screen.

Please test again, you should now get working VGA out and a clone of that on the internal display (scaled to fit the panel resolution).
