Description
I've been in the habit of installing over my existing installations just to see if the new versions break anything that was installed before. It has worked until fairly recently but, with the past few release candidates I've been getting a dialog box popping up that reads "An error was encountered and the installation was not completed. Error: File or Directory already exists". This happens pretty much as soon as copying starts (15 of 22645). I have a screenshot I can attach if necessary.
Do I need to attach a syslog for this?

I've had no problems upgrading Haiku. I just installed the latest r1a3-rc release (hrev42061) using the .iso cd image.

I'll be somewhere that I can check this against a desktop later and in a couple of days I'll be getting a new ac adapter for my laptop so I can check on that too. This behaviour is on my netbook, updating via a usb flash drive.

Looks like your disk has corruptions. Can you run "checkfs" on it and attach the output? After that run, your problems are likely gone, though.

As seen from the attached checkfs output, there were errors on the disk. After the run the upgrade ran ok. Maybe users should be advised to run checkfs before doing the upgrade or certain error messages could advise that the user run checkfs. This ticket should be closed.

Thanks for the update! Do you remember how old your initial installation was? Did it crash often?

Last successful install was hrev41884 so, it could not have been earlier than June 5. I can't remember seeing KDL on this netbook.

I meant for how long you're updating rather than reinstalling Haiku; I ask to know if this could have been triggered by a bug that has already been fixed in the mean time, or if you ran into a bug that's not likely to have been fixed already.
Last successful install was hrev41884 so, this has only happened since June 5, 3 days ago.
