#7675 closed bug (fixed)

Media server locks up

Reported by: dsuden Owned by: nobody
Priority: normal Milestone: R1
Component: Audio & Video Version: R1/Development
Keywords: Cc: mdisreali@…
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: x86

Description

Using a SoundBlaster Live, and playing one song after another, Media Server eventually "jams up," resulting in no audio. Interestingly, there is still VU and progress bar activity if I am playing in SoundPlay. But in ProcessController, you can see things aren't looking healthy. Screen grab is included. I'll continue to monitor the situation and let you know if I find a trigger such as a particular kind of audio file, etc.

Shows reaction in ProcessController

As of R42714, this problem is still very much there. While sometimes the audio doesn't go silent from it, the AudioMixer control shown in ProcessController pegs at or near 100%. Eventually it takes the system down and I have to reboot.

When playing songs back-to-back, it sometimes takes a day, sometimes less, for this to occur, but it always does eventually and I have to reboot.

According to your screen shot, media_server is not problem. It is actually media_addon_server. There are several open tickets about media_addon_server problems. It is possible this issue is already covered by one of them.

This is an oldie, and involves an ancient piece of hardware...suggest it might be retirable.
