Description
The set of folders on an IMAP server is presented as a flat list rather than an hierarchy of folders, which is mildly counter-intuitive. For example, if the server has a folder Incoming with sub-folders Incoming/2009, Incoming/2010 and Incoming/2011, this is presented as a single folder with sub-folders:
Incoming.2009 |
Incoming.2010 |
Incoming.2011 |
What I would expect instead is a folder
Incoming |
which, when opened, displayed the three sub-folders:
2009 |
2010 |
2011 |
which reflects the hierarchical folder display used in most email clients such as MacOS Mail.app, KMail, Outlook and Thunderbird.

And it's now already fixed since quite some time.

This will get fixed in my IMAP branch.
