Media Prefs: Sliders disappear as soon as you try to alter them

Description
As soon as I try to alter the level sliders in the Media Prefs panel they disappear. To make them re-appear the Media Prefs panel must be closed and then re-opened. The sliders wil then be present. I would expect the sliders to operate as normal and to be able to adjust the various levels using them however, they disappear as soon as the mouse is clicked in order to activate them.
I have an Audigy soundcard installed. Sound is working. Build is 18775.

AFAICT, this could be related to bug 836, as the sliders are drawn on a BBitmap.
