Description
This laptop has a ati mobility 9600 graphics. If I look closely I can see HAIKU is on the screen, but without backlight all is black. This happens on alpha 4 and 4.1. At first I had performed an update over the current pre-alpha release. Secondly I did a fresh install but the results are the same.

I installed the latest nightly build hoping that my issues with the back-light would have been fixed (I wasn't sure the driver was the culprit) and much to my surprise...it works. I checked to see if the radeon driver/accelerant is used instead of vesa, and yes :-)
I'm really curious to know what caused this problem.

I tried 45012 but this version boots ok. After that I tried hrev44981 and this one is also ok. I tried the alpha4.1 again and bingo...black screen.

Is display backlight actually a function of the video driver, or ACPI?
