Most of the issues with Radeon cards were fixed a while ago. I have not seen this in several months. You can close this ticket.

Sorry to reopen. While testing for another ticket I found that the problem does still exist for the current builds (hrev48235 x86 and x86_64). The card is working perfectly in alpha 4.1, but is flashing on the nightlies. It does not KDL anymore. However, in between flashes (on both builds) I could see that the debugger was activated for a fault in the Media add on server. I was able to save both debug reports between flashes.

This is the same crash you've already reported in #11228. It is being tracked in #11213. Additionally, please don't mix driver issues with userland bugs.

So the debugger reports being generated are unrelated to the flashing screen and shouldn't be attached to this ticket? I pulled that same Radeon card that was flashing on one PC and put it into another PC. Instead of flashing, I get nothing but blackness, but only on the nightly builds. As on the other PC, the card works with alpha 4.1.

Replying to vidrep:

Correct. media_addon_server has no responsibility whatsoever for the screen.

What information would be useful to the developer to resolve this issue? Can you suggest a series of tests? All of the hard drives in my Haiku test PC's are partitioned with alpha 4.1 and at least one other partition for nightlies. They are all set up for serial debugging to a Windows PC.

Can you close this ticket? I'll open a new ticket based upon a current nightly, as the description is no longer valid.
