#1061 in-progress enhancement

fix NFSv2 copyrights, clarify licencing.

Reported by: mmu_man Owned by: mmu_man
Priority: low Milestone: R1
Component: File Systems/NFS Version: R1/pre-alpha1
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Need to add copyright headers to the NFS add-on I ported and fixed, also ask the original author if reachable if MIT would be a possible licence (it was released as freeware). Original version found here: Unlikely that emails at german univs are kept around but who knows...

Email to the original author bounces. Anyone else heard from Andreas Huber lately?

Known addresses for him are: hubera AT forwiss DOT uni-passau DOT de I'm sure I tried this one and it didn't work, but can't find the mail.

googleing for "andreas huber beos" gives: ahuber AT (in an OS/2 thread mentionning beos) service AT (seems to be a Andreas Huber at Prodad for a while... 2005) BeOS is also mentionned on a page of a Huber family website there:

I'll mail the first two and see.

So, ahuber AT gives: <<< 552 5.2.2 Over quota 554 5.0.0 Service unavailable <<< 503 5.5.1 No recipients

The other one seems not to be the one we want either.

I sent a possible candidate ( the following email:

" Good evening!

I am looking for the original author of the NFS_client add-on for BeOS. If you are the author, the Haiku developers have updated and added your code to their operating system for NFS support and are have been attempting to contact you to see if you are willing to license the code under the MIT license.

You can see the bug ticket discussing this issue here:

If you are not the developer of the NFS_client add-on for BeOS, then feel free to ignore this email. :)

--Alex "

I will report back to this ticket if I get an answer. I am doing this because i spent about an hour looking at Andreas' NFS code trying to fix it for Haiku before i noticed it was already fixed and in the tree.. sigh. Good job though! :)
