Description
After I configured static IP4 addresses for a wifi network, the ethernet interface disappeared from the Network Preferences interfaces, and from the deskbar network thing.
I recovered it by adding static ethernet interfaces in /boot/system/settings/network/interfaces.

Sorry, hrev48962 seems to have broken my atheros wifi - now can't find any networks - and this in turn seems to interfere with attempts to edit network preferences for the wifi device, while syslog shows continued events from the wifi device.

OK, not so thoroughly broken, a few hours later I tried and found wifi networks.
I can now edit static configurations for both interfaces, and they're properly recorded in settings/network/interfaces, so as for the ticket, congratulations - that's fixed!
The static configuration doesn't seem to actually work for wifi - not sure if that's guaranteed to work anyway.
Still have the semi-paralysis while editing static wifi interface settings with wifi not working. Text entry in the gateway text view takes 10-20 seconds per digit, Network Preferences window can't redraw window promptly on expose, etc. CPU is going to kernel team during this. Duplicate by disabling wifi.
