Cannot disable touchpad scrolling

Description

Using a Lenovo T60 I tried to disable touchpad scrolling and find there is no option available to do this.

You mean the scrolling area down the right side of the pad (and buttom for horizontal scrolling)? If so, that should be possible by grabbing the red line in the touchpad graphic in the preferences and minimize the scroll area.

Awesome! And the scrolling area now works to move the cursor, a feature I've never seen elsewhere. BTW the Horizontal Scrolling checkbox seems to do nothing at all.

I think the user experience could be quite a bit nicer in this regard, in any case.

I think the horizontal scrolling checkbox is for two finger scrolling, i.e. you can scroll horizontally and not only vertically using two fingers. (if you want to try it, some older touchpads only detect two fingers when both fingers are one an horizontal line...) I also had to look into the source code so maybe a more verbose label? Will add John for clarification.
