#13020 closed bug (fixed)

Webpositive address bar - no domain showing

Description

Do browsers normally allow the address bar to be missing the domain? Since Webpositive gets to where it's going successfully, it obviously is using the web page's base url, and prepending it internally in order to be able to browse to the page. This might seem like a really trivial question, but I've been seeing this on Webpositive frequently, and it definitely doesn't give me a "warm fuzzy" to see it. It's like flying blind. I could be on any page really. How does this behaviour contrast to other browsers? Should the address bar force the display of the domain?

Nevermind. I see the domain is on the tab label now. How long has this been the case? Anyway, the ticket can be closed.

No, now I see a page where the tab, address bar, titlebar, and status bar are all missing the domain name. So, don't close the ticket.

Can you post a screenshot? WebPositive displays the domain name in the address bar just fine here. It's in a bold font, even...

There are several bugs with redirects and URL management. This is not supposed to happen but I saw it on some occasions. When in that state, clicking links in the shown page will also not work.

So, definitely not a feature.

I think this specific issue is gone now (the latest HaikuWebKit release fixed most problems with redirects). There still is #13068 but there is a specific ticket for that.
