There is not need to warn user as it's not a distractive action and is just plain annoying :)

I agree that the BAlert makes sense after downloading has started (continuing aborted downloads would be nice, btw. :) ). If a user just opened SoftwareUpdater to see if and what would be updated, hitting "Quit" should quit without BAlert.
In the future, that user may also just have opened SoftwareUpdater to change the update-check-interval.

Adopted in hrev51148. Confirmation to quit is only displayed after packages have started downloading.

Annoying while testing, yes that is true. But in normal used if you run SU and there are packages most people would continue to update and quitting should not be desired too often. Besides if downloading has started and you quit those packages have to be downloaded all over again (that is not under my control but part of the underlying package management system).
I do appreciate your feedback though, if you have more ideas please submit them. I will leave these types of requests open (for a while at least) if others want to chime in that I am totally off my rocker :-)
