Fixed by reverting the offending commit in hrev53231.

The PCI ID for XHCI is not included here, but based on the first screenshot, it's "x5-E8000/J3xxx/N3xxx" hardware, which probably implies this XHCI controller: https://certification.ubuntu.com/catalog/component/pci/8086%3A22b5/
Since hrev53189 works but hrev53223 does not, this implies that the Event Data changes or something therein are to blame (possibly relevant commits: hrev53200, hrev53194.)
