Thank you. Can you add a problem description? Maybe also add a screenshot, also of distorted output if you can grab that.

For example: the screenshot in the forums show 1280x800, and shows a list of all offered modes by the driver. The screen and options seem correct. Is that right? Is the problem it sometimes works, and it sometimes doesn't for example? I don't understand yet what you try to say about the use of vesa mode.

Can you tell me:

  • the native resolution of your flatpanel? is it indeed 1280 x 800?
  • the driver tells us you also have a seperate secondary screen connected. Is that indeed the case or not?

The driver reports no problems as fas as I saw: I see you do a number of boots, and setmode 1280x800. Sometimes I see a dualhead mode of 1024x768? Did you set that indeed? And if so, why? (assuming there is no secondary screen connected).

Thanks for any additional info you might have..

Oh, btw: you could try to attach a secondary screen and see if that always works OK or not.. If you try that I'd like to see a new logfile created with that (Delete the old one please: a few reboots per file max is nice: more is too much :-)

Possibly you indeed need to set a dualhead (clone) mode if you attach a second screen in order to get the desktop there.

Thank you :-)

hi and thank you.

  • Screen native resolution is 1280x800
  • in standard mode the monitor does not give the graphics but remains black
  • in safe graphic mode the system works correctly but the video is only set to 1280x768 (not 1280x800)
  • In the resolution change menu if I choose the VGA option, sometimes the system is loaded with the right resolution (1280x800) and the video card is also recognized.
  • I didn’t set any dual heads
  • If I connect another monitor, the same problem always arises.

if you can give me some indication on how to try to solve the problem if I would be happy since I really like the operating system. With the wrong resolution it is little usable.

thanks Stefano

Just a heads-up:

I was able to get my hands on a GF6100 mainboard the other day, so I plan to test it first hand myself and hopefully fix the remaining errors for these cards, though I am not sure it will fix (all) problems for your system.

For Geforce 6000-6200, notably Nforce 4 and 4xx, but possibly more cards, added detection of a 25Mhz GPU base frequency crystal. This fixes too low refreshrates, wobbly screens, no picture at all, only part of a picture and that kind of trouble.

Fixed in hrev55039.

Please retest if still possible. If no feedback will come I'll close the ticket assuming it's OK now.. (memory and GPU clocking is also influenced by the change, if the driver is set to program these.)

Thanks!

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

In the meantime two more specific fixes were added that might also have a positive influence on this card. Assuming for now it is fixed indeed.

Closing ticket. Feel free to re-open if needed. Thank you.
