Description
It may be desired to have a password option to turn on the system. Although Haiku is single user, people may want to use a password to protect their data.
BIOS password is an option, but it would be a nicer touch to have it OS-level.

I think login password would do okay as stopgap right now. I don't think it's in the roadmap to have whole-disk encryption for R1. To me, login password seems imperative for R1 though.

I agree, even if Haiku remains single-user, having a method of preventing unauthorized access to the system would be ideal.
However, I think a simple password would not really provide much real security. Rather than spending the effort on just a password alone, I think something like this should be implemented along with whole-disk or home directory encryption.
