Description
I had an IMAP folder called "aerc\ml", and after deleting this I did get my mail to download. Before this it would always fail, so this at least seems tangentibly related.

I could yes, but seeing as I have my own mail server I'll rather create a new test user for this when I have some time so the log is shorter and easier to dig through. I've opened this ticket so I don't forget this. :)

If this is the case and mail is syncing now, could you create a test folder with a backslash in it and see if this does indeed stop the sync?
