Description
When changing font sizes in "Appearance" settings, there are many places in Haiku where the text labels don't change their size.
Examples are desktop icon labels (the ones under each icon), context menu when right clicking on a free space of the desktop, file explorer texts, texts in appearance-settings window etc.
I am testing Haiku OS on a Lenovo Thinkpad T480 which has a native resolution of 1920x1080.
As with other operating systems, texts are quite small and I wish there was a global scale percentage to make everything (controls, icons, texts) bigger in a uniform way. Currently, as a user, I am unable to change said text sizes.
Desktop icon labels, context menu, file explorer texts, etc. all change after a reboot, or after restarting the applications in question (Deskbar, Tracker, etc.)
I think there is a separate ticket somewhere about updating these "live", but that will be a lot of work. I use Haiku on a 4K monitor myself, and while there's still a lot of work to be done, things are more than tolerable at present.
The font size is the global scale factor, for now. There are plans to split this out into a per-screen setting instead with a more typical percentage option, but everything internally should already scale according to what font size you have picked, and most things do.
