It would be great to have the icon folders for Applications and Preferences so they can appear in the Deskbar menu when menu_entries is symlinked to the /boot/system/data/deskbar/menu directory.

I guess I am a bit confused by what is being asked for here. What do you mean by "icon folders"?

I’ll reference this ticket https://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/17135 though it’s not directly related. Do you remember when the Applications and Preferences folders had a small icon in the bottom left corner of the folder icon to indicate the contents of the folder?

I can't say that I do... do you have a screenshot?

Ah, I see there's a screenshot of them in one of the attachments #17135.

Not sure how that got lost.

I booted into my R1B1 install and it looks like the icon(ized) folders were never implemented for the /boot/system/data/deskbar/menu directory. I am guessing this was a miss when initially implementing the new root directory structure post R1A4 and linking the deskbar menu stuff in a different way to account for packaged and non-packaged alike.
