#4838 new bug

HDA driver not detected

Reported by: haikuhacker Owned by: korli
Priority: normal Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: Drivers/Audio/HDA Version: R1/alpha1
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: x86

Description

Well it was detected once on the first boot after install of the OS. The Media preferences listed HD Audio in the Audio settings and I was able to play and hear an mp3 file. Every reboot since then shows no HD Audio in the Media preferences window and of course no sound when playing mp3 files.

That could actually be an interrupt problem - the driver doesn't find any codecs.

Should I try to play OGG or FLAC files?

You misunderstood me: this is an internal driver problem, probably caused by interrupt issues. On that level, "codecs" doesn't mean what one is used to.

Audio is working on my system now (as of hrev34753). Try this latest revision and see if it works now for you, too.

Oops, just noticed that your audio chipset is an ATI, not nVidia. If you're lucky, maybe it works now, but due to the fact that it's a different chipset, just keep your fingers crossed and HOPE!

I couldn't find hrev34753 in the nightly builds, so I tried hrev34760.

Using hrev34760, I still do not find the HDA device in Media Preferences. Thanks for the encouragement though, and Happy Holidays!

Milestone: R1/beta2Unscheduled

Removing HDA audio tickets from Beta2 milestone, no one has worked on it and opensound is available at least as a stopgap.

Please retest under a recent nightly.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
