Description
I am currently unable to boot Haiku off CD on my PC. Initially it would instantly reboot after showing "1. FD 2.88MB System Type-(0F)" and some dots. I had to be very quick with the Pause key! (see 01.jpg)
After going into the BIOS setup I disabled APIC. This got me a little further with the splash screen displaying followed instantly by the KDL displaying "PANIC: Double Fault!" (see 02.jpg)
This is the sc output after the above:
I next tried the various safe mode options. None would allow it to boot and instead I would get the following error: "PANIC: mapping the local apic failed" (see 04.jpg)
Here is the sc output after the above:
And here's the ints output:
The machine I'm trying to run it on has an ECS L4S8A motherboard with Award BIOS, Pentium 4 and SiS 648 chipset. Full system details/PCI listing are in the attached sysinfo.txt. I have also attached all the linked images above should they be inaccessible at any time.
I will happily provide more information if it's needed.
I can confirm that this also occurs with the latest nightly build (hrev33748).
Thanks,
Rob

I tried that I'm afraid. I cannot get to the safe mode options at all unless it's disabled in the BIOS setup, it reboots before the stage where it accepts the space bar input. With no safe mode options selected I get the "PANIC: Double Fault!" ("co" then reboots). With the "Disable IO-APIC" option checked in the safe mode options I get the "PANIC: mapping the local apic failed" error instead.
If I "co" after that, I then get: "PANIC: page fault, but interrupts were disabled. Touching address 0x8176e340 from eip 0x800e473f". I can't continue any further.
Thanks

Correction to the above. I tried again with the Alpha R1 CD and NOT the nightly build. I can confirm that with the nightly build and "Disable local APIC" option enabled, it will boot (however won't initialise my USB keyboard and mouse - I'll try with PS2 - but that's a seperate issue). So while I can get it to boot I guess it's useful for the developers to know what hardware it fails with APIC enabled anyway.
