Description
A am using Haiku in VirtualBox with OSS for sound. I can't listen to music in MediaPlayer under heavy load (Firefox loading a page) because of frequent sound interrupts unless I set "media extractor thread" at least to Urgent Display Priority.
VirtualBox 3.0.4 is set to using ICH AC97 and ALSA
Tested with hrev34006.

hrev34243 might have improved the situation. However, in general, emulators are not very useful for this kind of tests.

Indeed, it's much better now in MediaPlayer, but still some clicks here and there. Also it seems that increasing priority of "media extractor thread" doesn't change anything now.
it's still bad in VLC where increasing priorities still helps.
Tested with hrev34252 in VirtualBox 3.0.12.

Confirmed that trick with "media extractor thread" doesn't work anymore in hrev38300.

I have compiled the OS while watching movies and listening to songs, I think stippin fixed this a few builds ago around 39xxx I wanna say. Its time to kill this one. If someone is getting sound drops on heavy loads I haven;t seen it on the 4 machines I have running haiku.

I still get sound interrupts, but they are not related to heavy load - they just happen infrequently from time to time.

Possibly dumb question, but even with serial output disabled?

Obviously not as dumb as I am ;-) While I was pretty sure I disabled serial debug output, I must have enabled it accidently again with an update...
So I close this ticket for now.
Actually it's the same for VLC, i.e. I have to increase "input" and "decoder" threads in ProcessController to stop interrupts.
