When I started Haiku from CD, the welcome app popped up and I could select a language and keymap -- would it not be better if selecting a language automatically preselected the keymap?

There is no actual mapping between languages and keymaps. Some default choices could be made... I'll look into it if I have some time.

I took the liberty to rephrase a bit, stargater. Hope you don't mind. You are correct, the keymap should be preselected for convenience.
