#6666 closed bug (fixed)

.rmvb not supported out of the box

Description

hrev38816. Example RMBV file that doesn't play in MediaPlayer unless renamed to e.g. .mp4, much like ticket #4501:

http://deathstar.knuttinatoll.net/hammer/sample.rmvb (3 MB)

(Generally, isn't it a bit odd that you aren't able to explicitly open a file with MP, but you can trick MP into playing it by renaming the file? The "None of the files you wanted to play appear to be media files" verdict seems rather unfounded.)

The thing is that MediaPlayer shall not open unsupported files when you drop entire foldes, like with an audio album folder and you have a JPG of the cover in it. That's why it doesn't just attempt the file, but checks the MIME-type.

Added MIME rule to auto-identify .rmvb as video/x-rmvb in hrev38849.
