Description
Haiku R1A3 apparently ONLY shows AtherosWifi (which doesn't work, I assume, because we use WPA2). But it doesn't see/show the built-in Ethernet port. I tried disabling the wireless function, in the BIOS (thinking maybe there was some weird conflict), but Haiku still doesn't see anything but the wireless (which isn't usable, in our WPA2 setup).
Any idea why this is?

I assume Haiku hasn't found a driver for the ethernet device... very helpful bugreport btw.

Can someone tell me how to do a listdev and/or a syslog again... it's been awhile since I last did a syslog (and don't recall if I've ever done a listdev) and don't recall what I need to do.

Replying to korli:

Is the last comment about "... helpful bugreport..." sarcastic or serious? If sarcastic, please remember it's been awhile since I last posted a bug report, so I'm out of practice with protocol. If serious, always glad to offer input to make Haiku more useful across a wider span of systems.

Luposian, this should contain the necessary info wiki:ReportingBugs#Syslog wiki:ReportingBugs#HardwareIssues

Summary: | Asus EeePC 1001PXD netbook network issue... → Asus EeePC 1001PXD netbook unsupported ethernet controller |
---|
We can "guess" the PCI device is the following:
Ethernet controller: Attansic Technology Corp. Device 2062 (rev c1)
atheros813x/alc driver needs to be updated as FreeBSD should offer support for this device revision. ar81xx/ale driver would be to be updated too (and also renamed).

Now, this is an interesting conundrum... the release revision of Haiku R1A3 won't let me get online, because the Ethernet driver isn't working right. But... the nightlies are disabled, so I can't get the latest revision of Haiku, to get a copy of Haiku that WILL get online!
How do I get around this? Is there a way to get the updated driver(s) in Windows and grab them from the NTFS partition, in Haiku, that route? Then install them? Or...?

I created an install of Lubuntu 11.04 on an 8Gb USB thumb drive, and did a complete build of the latest revision of Haiku from there and put it onto a 2Gb USB thumb drive. Upon booting from that drive, it appears Haiku now sees my internal Ethernet port (plus our Linksys wireless router, but refuses to use it (WPA2, I assume)). So, in summary, I believe this "bug" has been satisfactorily resolved.
Thank you!

Thanks for update!
A listdev and syslog might help here...
