Description
When I tried to expand a .gz file from a read-only USB volume to a directory on the HD there was not an extracted file in the end. No warning either. When I copied the file to the destination and expanded from there, the result was as to be expected the extracted file.

Arnold, can you confirm this issue and provide additional details?
What filesystem was on the USB stick? was it mounted readonly, or did you use a write-protect switch on the USB stick?

Hi Urias,
Had some trouble logging in after this while. The USB stick I used has no protection switch. The filesystem I used, could have been FAT 32 or BeOS/HAIKU. (I guess I reused the stick since opening the ticket) I will try to reproduce this on a recent nightly soon, then report back.
Regards,
Arnold
I mounted a FAT32 USB drive read only through a virtual machine, no such problem.
