Description
Kernel Panic about cannot find bootable partition. It appears that it doesn't detect the USB device at all when searching for bootable partitions. On screen debug only shows it enumerating partitions on the internal SSD.

Unfortunately, this machine no longer works, so cannot test further.

Depending on which port the USB device in question is plugged into, it might be on an XHCI controller. The driver for that, however, isn't entirely done yet, and consequently isn't currently included on the image by default.
