Description
This is hrev48693.
After installing a package that provides a new filetype, that new MIME is only available after a reboot. For example, I installed "Remember" (available thru haikuports) which installs a new type $dataDir/mime_db/text/x-event.
These added MIME types don't have a BEOS:TYPE set as "application/x-vnd.Be-meta-mime" as the other MIME types that come with the system. Problem?

Another example is "QuickRes" installable from HaikuDepot. It also only appears in the FileTypes prefs' "Application types" and Tracker's "Open with..." menu after a reboot.

Still with us. Just installed Koder and Genio and those apps only appear in the "Open with…" menu of text files after a reboot.
Is it still on the "packagemanagement TODO list" Ingo mentioned above? The link has broken sometime over the decade that has past for this ticket... :)

That wiki page was apparently moved to wiki:Obsolete/MovedToTree/PackageManagement/TODO#Miscellaneous, or rather to https://cgit.haiku-os.org/haiku/tree/docs/develop/packages/TODO.rst#n61, according to the new page name ;)
That's a known issue and also an item on the package management TODO list.
