Initially, the last line is #255; after 'continu booting' the two final lines get written.

(Excuse me, meant was 'plain' 255)

The boot loader recognized 3 primary partitions and one extended partition containing 4 logical ones. The last logical partition, which is recognized as located at offset 6.57 GB with size 2.79 GB, is the boot partition.

Apparently the boot loader fails to load the kernel from it. Is this the right partition? Can you check whether the kernel is properly installed and has the correct contents?

Something must have happened when using the CreateDeviceImage app the other day...I don't remember having that many partitions before. Anyhow, the good news is that I successfully re-copied everything from the mounted hrev25509 image again into the earlier Haiku install that wouldn't boot, this time with good result. Sorry for the hassle: this "bug" can now be marked invalid or solved (whichever applies).
