Description
Haiku has beautiful icons. Seriously, very beautiful icons. Recently, a YouTube reviewer was complaining that these beautiful icons were too small to notice, especially in menus. Menus are different story, alright, they need a different UX pattern, but I think the least we can do is make the Desktop icons a tad bigger. Let me show you with screenshots attached.
As you can see, 48*48 size has the perfect balance between being too large and showing enough detail. However, 32*32 icons are a bit too small, and they do not show enough detail.
I believe this is the perfect opportunity to showcase some nice Haiku goodies.

+1. Personally I started using 48*48 since its become possible to do that in Tracker. As a bonus we will have more space for icon text which would less often overlap near icon text.

-1, I am against space waste. Icon main function is distinguishing items, not just looking to pretty icons.

Caption overlap should be fixed by multiline text and word wrapping.

For high DPI display icon size should be bigger automatically while keeping 32x32 setting.

Agreed with X512. This is a setting already, users who want the bigger icons are 2 clicks away from getting them.
I think the icon size may already scale automatically with HiDPI? Or was that just in Tracker list views?

List view scales along font size AFAIK. The default desktop icon size should too. Better than blindly set the default size. Someone on 1152x864 wants smaller icons than another running at 1920x1080.

On my 1366x768 display the desktop is already crowded with 32x32 icons, I certainly don't want 48x48 there. So at least it should scale according to the resolution.
