although this old atimach64 claims that support 1280 x 1024 x 8 i don't remember successfully working in this resolution. (even with the native ms driver when ran xp); but i have to admit that has a much more good sharpness that the intel_extreme:-)

i have switched monitors, because i couldn't see the kdl messages from the second machine; that time, the #690 was not fixed. If the need arises i will open it again. With the current monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 172w) there is no resolution problem.

Can you please turn on tracing in src/system/boot/platform/bios_ia32/video.cpp (you just have to uncomment TRACE_VIDEO in line 29) and try with a revision after hrev23114 (because that prints what resolution was actually chosen)? Thanks!
