Description
test build provided by korli; reference: https://haiku.movingborders.es/testbuild/I9dad02a5f39683687de943f950dc3c1a493622a1/1/hrev56024/x86_64/; this is on a homebuilt i5-10600k, asus rog strix z490e board, using on board graphics of cpu. First boot of this image resulted in white screen with kdebug messages and system freeze (sorry, didn't capture). Second boot made it to desktop with 1024 x 768 resolution. I was able to switch to 1920 x 1200 (max resolution of 2560 x 1440 was seen under hrev56010 with framebuffer).

Scott, what's the actual hardware? How is the display connected? If Linux is available on this hardwre, "cat /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_display_info" would do.

I'm connected by HDMI to an Acer VG270U bmiipx 27" Quad HD 2560 x 1440 monitor. There is no discrete graphics. It is provided by the processor's gpu. I'll attach the requested terminal output from linux. Thanks!

Retested under hrev56050. No system freeze at startup and no white screen during transition from boot-up icons to desktop. Initial desktop resolution was 1024x768. Switched to 1920x1200 (max for this hardware is 2560 x 1440. See attached capture from Screen app.

Could you please attach the /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_vbt file from Linux? I'd like to check the pin setup for HDMI.

Was the .vgt file helpful? It looked like a binary file to me, I couldn't decipher it.

Please try hrev56088 or newer. Hopefully it should use the DDC to find the EDID for HDMI on the right port.

I tested several along the way, I don't see any change on my end. Latest was 56449. I've attached two screenshots from Haiku. One with framebuffer, one with Comet Lake. I appreciate the work of all the devs. Considering how new this hardware is, I'm severely impressed!!
