Perhaps we could get some screenshots for comparison?

Even if the font was meant for titles, it seems to look fine the way we're using it. I don't really see a problem with sticking with an old version; most fonts are released once and rarely upgraded anyway.

Noto Sans new release

The screenshots of the (English) Haiku User Guide are all taken with Noto Sans Display, 10pt. The differences are probably small enough not to be noticed normally. Still, I keep the old Display version around. I'll attach a HPKG with the regular and bold versions, just in case...

Replying to humdinger:

Keeping the Display version around is an option, makes the hpkg a bit bigger...

Noto sans display is still available. https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Sans+Display

However, I am in favor of removing this in favor of Noto Sans. Noto sans works fine as a system font anf shipping both seems a bit wastefull.

I think Noto Sans looks more readable in these screenshots. A little bit of extra spacing makes all the difference.

I added the Noto Sans Display fonts in https://github.com/haikuports/haikuports/pull/10097, to support beta4 (cost a few megabytes).
