#253 closed bug (fixed)

[FileTypes] several issues

Reported by: diver Owned by: bonefish
Priority: normal Milestone: R1
Component: Preferences Version:
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking:
Platform: All

Description

*1. There is a bug in treeview where you could select several items at once. To reproduse it do the following: Start FileTypes. Expand video and select MPEG Movie. Expand message and select PNG image. You should see both MPEG Movie and PNG image are selected.

*2. Next, why is PNG image is in message? *3. What is multipart? *4. MPEG video (and some others as well) have wrong file extensions, description and extra attributes. *5. application/zip is a Be Application? *6. Some items doesn't have an icon (application/zip, image and video) *7. Rename application/x-vnd.obos-Expander to Expander and application/x-vnd.haiku-showimage to ShowImage. *8. There is also internal filetypes shown which shouldn't by default (i think).

BTW, i think show icons in list should be by default, this is really cool and make FileTypes much more user friendly. Thanks!

Reassigning to author of FileTypes preference app.

Diver, please do not put different bugs (like treeview bug and mime type bug) into a single bugreport.

The first part (relating to BOutlineListView) has been fixed with hrev16652. The second part seems to be a build problem under Linux (as it doesn't happen over here). While I guess Ingo is aware of these problems, I'm reassigning this bug to him now, even though it might not be (easily) fixable.

The icons are supposed to be on by default later on. The setting might stay, though, for slower systems with lower memory where this might be an issue.

Ok, what is multipart? I think, for now it would be right for FileTypes to remember "show icons in list" option.

Hey, this was assigned to you for a reason :-) What's left of this bug is the Linux build problem with attributes and such - if there already is a bug report for this, you can safely close this bug, though.

In revision 17364 the MIME DB should no longer be garbled under Linux, at least when building an image from the scratch (with empty objects and attributes directory).
