But you did notice that you left out the clock settings? What's your suggestion for that one?

Hmm, I don't remember what I had I mind when I was doing this mockup (it was several months ago). Maybe I thought about moving "Show seconds" option to context menu of timeview in Deskbar? Also Siarzhuk pointed out that this mockup breaks golden ratio, so I'm not sure about if it's actually better than the current gui.

Agreed. IMO, horizontally-strong layouts look better, even on 4:3 displays,

Yes, but I think it makes sense to move Show seconds to Deskbar shelf, and to add Show time to Deskbar preferences.

Err, I mean let's keep current layout and just add Show time option to Deskbar preferences, that way Clock box wouldn't feel so empty. Show seconds could be added to context menu of time view in Deskbar's shelf as this is where most people will try to find such option.

All of the clock options including 12/24 hour (currently found in Locale), show seconds, and show day of week should be consolidated into Time Preferences. Once that is done this mockup seems more reasonable so I am making this ticket depend on #8769.
