#1492 closed bug (fixed)

PowerStatus app seems to be non-functional?

Reported by: scottmc Owned by: axeld
Priority: normal Milestone: R1
Component: Servers/power_daemon Version: R1/Development
Keywords: Cc:
Blocked By: Blocking: #5364
Platform: All

Description

I've only tried it on two different laptops so far, but in each case the PowerStatus app asks if I'd like to install in the DeskBar, and when I click ok, it seems to close without putting anything in the DeskBar. I don't see power_daemon in the thread list, I assume these might be related? I tried with AC connected and on battery only same results each way. Am I doing something wrong or is it just not fully functional?

This is as of R22230

You have to enable apm.

If the applet just exits without error message, that should be fixed though.

Replying to stippi:

Yes. Actually it prints an error on the stdout. Of course, if you launch it from the Tracker, you won't see anything.

Work when apm is enabled. I was getting KDL when trying to start it up after enabling it, but then remembered I've been having other strange issues as well. So reboot into BeOS reinitialize my Haiku partition and put a fresh image back onto it and everything is fine again. Not sure what's causing things to become corrupt. Anyways the PowerStatus app works after enabling apm on a clean install. I noticed in my syslog though that it checks for apm on bootup, so why isn't it enabled by default then? Or is it just disabled in this stage of development? A dialog box error message would probably fit in this case.

I do get KDLs every time I use the program.

For me, it crashes into KDL *sometimes* (in apm related stuff). So I think it has nothing to do with clean install or not, you just happened to see it crash, could well be that you will see it crash again on the clean image.

Ok, still getting KDL with trying to run this with apm enabled on the thinkpad 570E, this time though I happened to have a serial cable attached, so here's the serial debug from power on up to and including the KDL after trying to start PowerStatus app.

I'd say this was resolved long ago.
